Secondhand shakespeare auditions

What happens when you mix a game of telephone with the greatest playwright in the English cannon? You get Secondhand Shakespeare! This laugh-out-loud twist on William Shakespeare’s works offers audiences a low-stakes, accessible way to enjoy classic Elizabethan plays.

We are looking for strong actors familiar with physical comedy, improvisation, and (ideally) the most common Shakespeare plays (Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth, Othello, etc.).

SCHEDULING INFORMATION:

  • Audition dates: Saturday, August 29 (In-person audition encouraged; Virtual audition option available)

  • Rehearsals: Three Saturday rehearsals, 9/5, 9/12, 9/19, and one Thursday rehearsal, 9/24

  • Performance dates: Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26

In-person auditions will be a mix of improv games and cold reads from a selection of Shakespeare plays. Actors need not prepare any materials in advance.
